In the late 4th century, Ancyra became something of an imperial holiday resort. After Constantinople became the East Roman capital, emperors in the 4th and 5th centuries would retire from the humid summer weather on the Bosporus to the drier mountain atmosphere of Ancyra.

Location was fabulous, close to all amenities yet so quiet. Mustafa is an excellent host and is so helpful. He even gave us a lift to Antalya for our flight home which worked really well for our flight times. Apartment had sufficient equipment to enable us to eat there which we did every morning.
Hotel Lykia was beautiful and tranquil, with a very fair price, in the heart of the Old Town. Hamiş only that, the staff went above and beyond, we left a couple of items on accident and they promptly shipped them to our next hotel the same day!

Alaca Högaile bronze standards is a pre-Hittite tomb dating to the third millennium BC. It is considered the symbol of the city still today.
